All personal gear needs to fit in a single dry bag.
Each canoe also carries its share of group gear and food. Gear gets loaded, unloaded and secured in the canoe many times a day, and we can't be tying down dozens of loose items per person. One bag per paddler also makes gear much easier to recover if a canoe capsizes.
A second, smaller dry bag is fine for things you need on the go, like sunscreen, binoculars and your cell phone.
